Week 3 Day 2...check!
I ran my W3D2 run last night. Yesterday was gorgeous and really hot! Thankfully by the time I ran it was getting a little cooler. It was about 77 degrees. I did well again. I got nice and sweaty too! I love that! As I was running one of the 3 minute runs, I was thinking to myself that I still can't picture being able to run 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 25 minutes....straight without stopping! I think next week the longest run is 5 minutes. I can picture myself doing that. So maybe after that I'll be able to see myself running 8 minutes straight. I guess that's what this program is all about! :)
An update on my left ankle...During week 1 my ankle was bothering me and I didn't know why. I am happy to report that it is fine now and doesn't bother me at all.
I am also excited to see some results of the running. I weigh myself every Friday. I've been holding steady for a few weeks now, but this week I had a great drop! I think I'm off that little plateau and I think it's because I picked up my cardio by adding running 3 times a week. Yay!
I plan on doing my W3D3 run tomorrow morning.

Week 3 Day 1
Here I go in Week 3!
Week 3 is a brisk 5-minute walk warm up, 90-second run, 90-second walk, 3-minute run, 3 minute walk (done twice), then a 5-minute walk cool down.
So week 3 is definitely a little tougher than weeks 1 and 2. The 3-minute run is twice as long as the 90-second runs from week 2. But I did pretty well. I was definitely breathing a little heavier...but I think it's because I had to run before, and up, and after the biggest hill in my route. I think this is the shortest week time-wise. I only had to run 4 times. The 90-second runs were easy. It was really nice out so I got to wear shorts and a tank. I ran about a half hour earlier, so more people were out. All in all, it was a good outing!
My next run will be Thursday evening. I can't wait!

W2D3
I ran my W2D3 run Saturday morning. Remember how I mentioned it would be nice...yeah, well I woke up at 7:45 to pouring rain. We had two weddings that day and had to get the kids all packed up and we had to get ready, so I had to get my run in. Thankfully it was warmer out...about 60 degrees. But it was windy and sprinkling when I ran. I wore shorts and a t-shirt for the first time. At first I was cold due to the higher winds and rain, but the rain chilled out for a bit and I warmed up as I ran. The running part went well again. I'm really looking forward to week 3 where the run times are increased. It is supposed to be really nice all week...about 80 degrees and sunny. So my runs will be in good, hotter weather. I was planning on doing Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday again for week 3, but now I'm thinking I may do my W3D1 run tonight...my Biggest Loser finale is tomorrow night. :) So, I may have a post tomorrow.

W2D2
I ran my W2D2 run last evening. Again, it went really well. I was a little worried it wouldn't go well because I ate a bigger dinner and I ran ealier than I have been. Also I was already feeling a little sore from my morning Boot Camp class. But all was good! Before my run, the fam and I walked to the park and back. After we were home, I got ready and did my run. It was warm out so I wore a tshirt. I didn't have to bundle up and wear a hat, so that was nice. Because it was so nice out and earlier in the evening, more people were still outside. For some reason I feel that I look silly when I run and I don't want people to see me. Haha! I need to get over that! Maybe once I'm more confident in my running, I won't care anymore.
So I have one more Week 2 run, which I plan on doing tomorrow morning. Wow, these 2 weeks went by fast!

Week 2 Day 1
I ran my Week 2 Day 1 run last night. It was great!
Here is what Week 2 looks like: 5 minute brisk walk warmup, run 90 seconds and walk 2 minutes (done 6 times), 5 minute walk cool down.
So in week 2 I am running 30 seconds longer and walking 30 seconds longer than in week 1. The added 30 seconds were fine for me. I can see how the progressive time is going to work here.
I didn't get running until about 8:45. So it was a tad darker than my other evening runs. But thankfully it was not raining. I was bundled up cause it was about 55, but no sun and clouds so it was cool. Of course I was sweating when I ran. I had on a tank, a long-sleaved t-shirt, and a huge sweatshirt. Plus a winter hat. I'm excited because the weather is really supposed to get nice. Tomorrow it'll be in the 70s, so I'll have a nice evening run. And then my Saturday run should be super nice in the morning. I may get to wear shorts! :)
During my run I realized my left ankle wasn't bothering me at all. So that was great. I think whatever was wrong, is on the mend. I also noticed that I didn't get any left side cramps. I usually get those when I run. So we'll see if they continue to stay away...I hope so!
Next run is tomorrow evening!

My Own MP3 Player!
Yesterday was mine and Hubby's 7-year anniversary! And, he got me my very own MP3 player! I am so excited. I can't wait to load it with all my favorite music. My first thing to go on it will be my Week 2 Podcast! Yay! I have been working on a list of songs to add. I can never think of songs on the spot. I want a really fun, upbeat playlist for running.
I'm really looking forward to my first Week 2 run. My plan this week is to run Tuesday (tonight), Thursday, and Saturday. However it's pouring right now. But it's only 8:45 in the morning and I have 12 hours until my run, so hopefully the rain goes away.
Week 2 here I come....with my new MP3 player! :)

W1D3
I did W1D3 this morning and it was great! It was so nice to run in the morning rather that at 8:45 at night. The sun was bright and shining. It was warmer too...about 55. Not many people were out cause it was about 8:30 in the morning. I will be looking forward to my weekend morning runs.
So Week 1 is done! On to Week 2. My plan for week 2 is to run Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

W1D2
I completed W1W2 Friday evening. It was a nice night. Not as cold as my first run. I did pretty well again. I found that it seemed to fly by.
My left ankle area started being sore before my first run. I thought maybe it was my achilles. I've been trying to stretch it out. But I don't think it's my achilles...it hurts on the inside left. And it hurts to the touch. I have no clue what I did and if it's because of the running. But it doesn't really hurt when I run, so that's good.

Let's Get It Started! ~ Week 1 Day 1
Last evening I officially started the C25K! During the week I will be running at night after we get our boys to bed. So we got the boys to bed and I went out for my first run.
First, I am so glad I found the podcasts I'll be using. I seriously don't know how I would keep track of when to run and walk if I didn't have them. They are awesome! For week 1, you start with a brisk 5 minute walk, then you run for 60 seconds, then walk for 90 seconds, and you repeat that 8 times, then you do a 5 minute walk cool down. I did pretty well. It wasn't hard for me. But I definitely got a good workout in. The 1 minute runs really flew by. I am not an out-of-shape person, so I could probably start later in the program. But I decided to still follow it all the way through. I want my body to work its way up to being able to run 30 minutes straight (still can't imagine that!) So, Week 1 Day 1 was a success and I can't wait for my next run...which will be tomorrow night!

Intro
So, I've never been a fan of running. I love walking and going on brisk walks, but running, not so much. I started taking a Boot Camp class a few months ago, and our instructor started having us run 15 laps at the beginning of class. So it was there where I started to kind of like running. I could run the entire time without stopping. So I was thinking that someday I'd like to run a 5K. I finally got around to getting out in my neighborhood and trying to run 5K. My hubby and I mapped out two routes. The first is around my block and it's 0.7 mile, so I'd have to do 5 laps to get 3.5 miles...a little longer than a 5K, but that's ok. The other route is my usualy walking route. It is 1.7 miles, so I'd do that twice for 3.4 miles. So on Saturday I went out and did my first run. I ran the 3.4 miles in 34 minutes 48 seconds...pretty impressive I thought! I had to stop and walk 4 times. As I ran I thought that I could never see myself being able to run the entire time without stopping. On Monday, I found out about the Couch to 5K training program. I thought this would be perfect for me. This way I can work my way up to being able to run for 30 minutes without stopping! That would be awesome! So I found some podcasts (ipod or mp3) and Week 1 is in hubby's mp3 player all ready to go! Tonight is my first run...week 1 day 1! My plan for this blog is to just write about my experience doing the C25K training program. I love reading about other experiences when people try programs, so I figured why not write my own? So here I go! Wish me luck! Oh, and I plan on running in my first 5K in October. I should finish the C25K program in July so hopefully I'll keep running and practicing and then do aweome in my first official 5K!
